My name is Bridget Jones I am a Registered Nurse and have worked in the NHS for over 30 years including many years in the field of public health, health promotion and personalisation ensuring people have choice and control over their own health and wellbeing. I trained in The Walters Method in 2019. TWM is a body-based psychotherapy which help transform thoughts, feelings and memories that affect our mental, emotional and physical health.
Unlike some counselling and therapy sessions TWM is usually short term up to 5 sessions and draws on counselling, coaching, mindfulness meditation and relaxation techniques.
One of the things I really like about TWM is you do not need to talk in depth about your issues in order for the therapist to help you manage your life challenges.
I discovered TWM following my own life challenge which was unexpected and led to significant repercussions on the whole of my life. The therapy provided me with immediate relief and offered self-care tools that I could use to help manage my feelings and emotions. I went from strength to strength and realised that I really wanted to become a practitioner to share my knowledge and training with others going through their own life challenges.
I also have a personal interest in mindfulness and have taken further study and training in many different mindfulness techniques and I lead the mindfulness training for The Walters Method Programme.
“I’ve tried other therapy but this is the first time I feel someone is really helping me, I felt better after the first session. I’ve learnt that I can deal with my own emotions. I have learnt about caring for myself and know I can self-help, I don’t need anybody to help me because I can help myself. I have learned about my thoughts and feelings" (5 sessions) (female 38yrs)
“I just wanted to say thank you for our 1:1 sessions, I found them very powerful, and you are amazing calming person who has made a big difference to me and I'm sure many others" (4 sessions) (Female 51yrs)
“I really enjoyed our sessions thank you so much for helping me to take on board the spirit of mindfulness. I feel that I have explored so much and learnt so much about myself. I actually wonder whether I am a different person! I am certainly a lot calmer”(5 sessions) (Female 77yrs)
“It has helped me see things differently. I have found some things difficult but I am finding it easier to deal with my issues now and the sessions have changed the way I look at things. I do feel better equipped to cope and I feel able to incorporate some of the things in my life and how I approach them. I don’t feel as overwhelmed as I did before the sessions” (5 sessions) (Female 33yrs)
“I have learned not to be so hard on myself. I’ve learned the importance of being kinder to me and taking time for myself. I’ve realised that feeling better in my mind impacts on all aspects of my life” (3 sessions) (Female 40yrs)
