Bowen Therapy in Ilkley: Gentle Touch, Powerful Result
What is Bowen Technique?
The Bowen Technique is a gentle, subtle and relaxing hands-on treatment suitable for adults and children, including newborn babies and the elderly.
Why choose Bowen Technique?
The Bowen Technique aims to balance the whole person, not just the symptoms and helps people of all ages who are suffering, for example, from back, neck and shoulder pain, knee problems, sports injuries, sciatica, frozen shoulders as well as stress-related difficulties. This treatment approach has brought rapid and lasting relief to people of all ages.
What happens during a treatment?
The Bowen Technique treatment can be performed through one layer of light clothing. An appointment will usually take approximately one hour, and up to an hour and a half for the first appointment.
After an initial conversation about current difficulties, the treatment begins, and the practitioner uses thumbs or fingers to make a series of precise, rolling-type moves over muscle or tendon. During treatment there are a series of short breaks where the patient is left resting to allow their body to respond to the gentle moves that have been performed. This rest period is an important part of the treatment and gives the body time to make subtle and fine adjustments that help to re-balance the body, relieve tension and reduce pain. It is these features that make the Bowen Technique so unique.
What is Bowen Technique good for?
Amongst other things, Bowen Technique can address back and neck pain, sciatica, frozen shoulder, tennis elbow, sports injuries – chronic and acute, leg length differences, tilted pelvis, joint pain, muscle spasm, hamstring strain, pain management, acute and chronic fatigue, asthma, hay fever, bronchial complaints, irritable bowel syndrome, digestive problems, strokes, whiplash, infant colic, P.M.T., stress, anxiety related problems, low energy.
