Solution Focused Hypnotherapy is based on the latest brain research and
neuroscience findings.
The evidence shows that there is no need to revisit the past in order to
move forward and make the changes that you wish to make.
Hypnotherapy is a wonderfully gentle therapy for the mind which can give
excellent results. Whether you’re struggling with anxiety or depression,
or perhaps wanting to lose weight or stop smoking, or even wanting to
move on from a phobia –
As a qualified master of Neuro-Linguistic Programming since 2005,
I trained in Hypnotherapy with Holly Wincote and I now combine the
techniques of NLP with techniques of Hypnotherapy. I specialise in
anchoring a client’s past experience of confidence, power and happiness
in such a way in which they can be recreated and harnessed by a
technique which I demonstrate to the client.
Neuro-Linguistic Programming has become increasingly accepted over
recent years, as a form of Applied Psychology; it combines particularly
well with Hypnotherapy, to enable progress to be made in overcoming the
effects of events and experiences that may be holding you back form
enjoying life to the full.
I offer the first session free of charge, and this is used to get to know
the client and explain something of the history of hypnosis and common
misconceptions. I explain that there is no magic or stagecraft involved
and that the client always has control of the situation and can leave at
any point they choose. I emphasise that I can give no guarantee of
success but I can assure them that at the end of the session or
treatment period they will feel better and more hopeful. I use
suggestions and imagery to eject unwanted thoughts and unwanted
mental processes.
Central to all this is my explaining how the subconscious affects
conscious thoughts and decisions.
Milton Erickson was a world famous hypnotherapist who used the
unwanted condition as part of the healing process. I use the analogy of an
unarmed combatant using his opponents’ energy and aggression against
him or herself.
Having completed the free introductory session I generally have an idea
of what the client wants and needs so that we can work together. I would
also expect the client to state whether he or she feels that
hypnotherapy might help them. I encourage the client to express these
feelings honestly.
I also use the technique of modelling so that, when in trance the client is
encouraged to picture someone they admire and imagine they have a
resource to imitate desired characteristics possessed by the model. I
believe that everyone has resources of which they may be unaware so I
try to enable clients to tap in to their gifts, achievements and qualities
which will enable them to go through an ego-strengthening routine which
is a central technique in hypnotherapy. Part of this process involves what
is known in N.L.P as reframing so that where appropriate, the client may
be encouraged to see that the condition about which they seek help may
have positive aspects.
As a courtroom lawyer I have used extensive communication skills, for
example, the use of humour, empathy and rapport which a good advocate
needs in dealing successfully with a judge and jury. I use these as
relaxation techniques and as part of a healing process. Again, as a
courtroom advocate I know how to use my voice dynamics as part of good
communication skills. Many of my clients have said that my speaking voice
and manner are comforting. My belief which I seek to embed in the
client’s subconscious, when in trance, is that no one need be a victim of
addiction, stress, lack of self esteem or confidence. My favourite
technique as a form of induction is to describe the client being in a place
or setting in which they feel comfortable and happy, for example, a
beach, a mountain in which they can feel safe. As an advocate having
certain literary skills I am adept at painting a vivid picture in which the
client can see themself.
